"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
This is one of my favourite quotes. Thomas Edison knew what he was talking about and I stand by it wholeheartedly. Why? It attributes the idea of failure to something that propels you, not holds you back. It tells you to try, and try again. Simply because there is no one way that works for everything. What might work for one person may not work for you. What works for me today probably won’t work for me tomorrow. That does not mean I have failed, or that I must give up. It means I can just add that to my list of things to not waste time and energy on since it isn’t working. Try another way. There is always another way. Try it. If you don’t see another way, take a step back. Give it a break. Gain perspective. Then come back, and try another way. Do something else. Use a different approach. Formulate a different strategy. Failure is going to happen. The best response is to not look at it as that, but as a way that simply did not work for you. There may just be a million other ways to do it, or even if you’re just about to give up, you may just find one way that could be your saving grace. So try.
